You’ve heard of Jebel Jais and all the activities. You’ve heard of all the amazing fine dining spots. But have you visited the not-so-hidden gem in Ras Al Khaimah, Saqr Park?
A favourite among the community when it comes to unwinding, the park has been welcoming visitors since 1991. Inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi , ‘Saqr’ means falcon in Arabic, hinting at the emirate’s centuries-old connection with the majestic bird and its cultural heritage.
Decades later, the park stands lush and mighty, offering a beautiful blend of greenery, recreation, and family-friendly activities for all.
It’s the kind of place where you want to put a blanket down, put your feet up, catch up with loved ones, watch the sun set and simply take in the serene surroundings. However, there are so many more reasons to visit Saqr Park in Ras Al Khaimah - take a look!
Thanks to its unique topography, Ras Al Khaimah enjoys pleasant to warm weather most of the year. Like with all outdoor activities in the UAE, though, the cooler months from November to March are ideal for visiting.
During this period, the temperature is just right for picnics, walks, and exploring the park’s many attractions. Even in the hotter months, the shaded areas, water features, and lush gardens make for a comfortable visit.
You didn’t think it was all beauty and relaxation vibes, did you? There’s so much to do at all Ras Al Khaimah parks, but this one’s a little extra special and here’s why
One of the park’s most loved spots (and for good Instagrammable reason) is its artificial lake. Complete with a cascading waterfall, it’s the ultimate serene spot where you can just sit on the benches and take in the scenery. Of course, the more adventurous ones can always rent a pedal boat and glide across the water. Basically, it’s just the kind of activity and vibe you’d love in winters.
It wouldn’t really be a makeshift Ras Al Khaimah theme park without some games now would it? The little ones can choose from as many as three arcade zones, packed with games to keep them going. From merry-go-rounds and carousels to bumper cars and a Ferris wheel, there’s plenty to keep little ones occupied. Add to that table tennis and electronic games for those a little older, and you’re golden.
Nothing screams perfect for a gorgeous picnic like Saqr Park. Pick your favourite grove of trees, set up camp, play board games, or get started to enjoy a barbecue at one of the dedicated spots. There are also trails throughout the park, which are perfect for kids to cycle or ride their toys safely while the adults relax nearby. Next long weekend plan maybe?
The grass is greener on all sides at Saqr Park, making every spot perfect for that unwinding moment. Lounge under the date palms, enjoy the fragrant grass, and spot flowers in full bloom. Hammocks strung between the palms make the perfect reading nook for anyone wanting a quiet moment in nature.
One of the more popular new additions to the park, this one’s perfect for both budding and veteran skateboarders. The 620-square-metre skatepark is a real treat, situated within the Ghaff tree reserve. It features ledges, bowls, pyramids, and rails that are awesome for picking up and showing off those new tricks.
If you ever visit Saqr Park, you need to hop on the most adorable miniature train. It’s a fun, easy and unique way to see the expansive grounds - especially perfect if you’re visiting during the hotter months. Unsurprisingly, it’s a big hit with the kids, so do give it a shot on your next visit.
